Constant hot water benefits patient care
Patients at York District Hospital are enjoying constant supplies of Domestic Hot Water (DHW) at the right temperature, following the installation of eight Spirax Sarco Engineered Systems.

Replacing shell and tube vertical heat exchangers, the Engineered Systems have overcome poor temperature control. As well as providing a reliable supply of DHW, the Engineered Systems have saved energy and substantially cut maintenance costs.

Improving the welfare of surgery patients
Spirax Sarco automatic pump traps have eliminated excessive noise from plant rooms above operating theatre suites at St James Hospital in Dublin. The noise was so bad at times that anaesthetists struggled to properly monitor patients in surgery.

The disruptions occurred daily in warm weather and at night when the heat exchangers, used for hot water and domestic hot water supplies, were under low load conditions.

Saving energy and maintenance costs
Three Spirax Sarco Engineered Systems are providing heating and hot water for the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff. Replacing existing calorifiers, which had only the most basic controls, making them inefficient, the Engineered Systems bring energy savings and reduced maintenance costs.

The controls on the three Engineered Systems are configured to interface with the hospital-wide building management system (BMS). The BMS allows the control and monitoring of alarms on any of the automated plant systems from one computer.
