The benefits of off-site construction
The combined expertise of the Steam Alliance partners enables them to offer an unrivalled, integrated approach to providing steam for major projects.
The Alliance brings together the expertise to tackle every aspect of a steam system to provide hot water, space heating and sterilisation, from the control of water quality to clean steam generation. Modular construction and off-site testing of Alliance equipment also means that the companies can guarantee the quality and performance of the steam plant.
Modular construction saves time during the design and specification stages of a project, since it avoids having to specify components individually. Off-site assembly also saves considerable time at the build site and improves health and safety during construction.
The four Steam Alliance partners have a combined turnover of £1.4 billion per annum and 300 years of experience to apply best practice learnt over a lifetime of working with industry.
Meeting needs within ProCure21
The Alliance was initially set up to better meet the needs of NHS clients working within the ProCure 21 procurement process. ProCure 21 is designed to deliver capital projects worth more than £1 million throughout the NHS.
It encourages NHS clients to work in partnership with a pared down selection of suppliers and contractors. This should minimise the time and effort spent by contractors duplicating their efforts during tendering and should help suppliers gain the experience to make future projects run even more smoothly.
